Single digits this morning but cold weather isn't really any fun without snow, wouldn't you agree? Woke to a light dusting yesterday, not enough to even matter. Of course, last weeks rain coupled with cold temps glazed over the Catoctin Ridge with a one inch layer of ice. Ice cubes rained down from the sky as the coated trees and mountain laurel gave into the weight of frozen H2O. Finally made me mount up the studded tires and drop some serious tire pressure. Still need to roll my own 29er studs, been putting it off for a lack of the need. Instead the new Jim Brown 26" wheel build served as the mounting location for the current set of ice tires. Good timing as the old wheels were barely hanging on.
Saw my name on the confirmed SSWC entry list. Durango in the fall sounds nice. Until then, could we get some snow around here? Played hooky from mountain biking on Wednesday and went to the local pimple of a ski "resort" with a few other SSers so we could slide down the mountain on some man made stuff. It was a good time but I want the real deal covering the local trails.
