Fender Bender  //   Thursday - January 25, 2007
Verbage:
As Morphine said, "A good woman is hard to find". Lucky I have that taken care of. My birthday was a few weeks ago and my wife surprised we with a super cool gift, a set of hand crafted wood fenders. Actually, she told me I could get them made, since the guy who does them will do them custom just the way you like them. The thing is, he makes up some sets and sells them on eBay and he just happened to have a set for sale that I liked very much. I didn't think I could come up with a custom design that I liked more, so I snatched these up.

The main body is a medium brown wood with purple diamond inlays topped off with a black and white stripe down the center. Tasty. Maybe a more detailed picture is in order.

And since I had the camera out, I grabbed a quick picture of the NOS Suntour XC crank that warrented the Ritchey bottom bracket from the previous post. The beater bike is looking a little more pimped than it used to. She's a tank that was slated for the garbage until I saved her, but I love her anyway. She might even deserve a fine rattle can paint job after these recent upgrades.

New parts  //   Tuesday - January 23, 2007
Verbage:
The fixed townie got a few new parts. It primary is the "land fill" bike, getting the cast offs from all other rides in the house that still have just enough life in them to perform the duties of running errands and short distance transportation. The bike got a couple of new parts recently though, a pair of NOS old school Suntour XC cranks that I intended for the 29er but whose Q-factor was much too small for modern bottom brackets and the Kelly frame. An eBay score of this NOS Ritchey BB gave me the right chainline so on the townie she went. Pin spanners and fixed cups, I must say I don't really miss those days for mountain bike bottom brackets, but for this bike it should be just fine.
