Another SS PBE picture. After a Le Mans start the riders gather their bikes (that were mixed up and moved from where they originally put them) and head into stage 3 for some tight and twisty woods riding.

Stage 5, middle of the loop. Half of the stages are over. Break time for some barley pop. The stage ended on a steep little pitch, the only spot on the whole loop that was free of snow. That didn't mean the danger was over. The sun warmed the top of the dirt to a greasy consistency causing this section to have a victim mortality rate over 50%. Steve demonstrates the art of the fall.

More SSPBE2004 reporting: Following a beverage rest stop for some "energy recovery drink" the hearty SS riders were faced with a brutal climb. The reward was two subsequent stages of mostly downhill riding. This is a shot of stage 9, the second of the two. Here a group of riders are rolling like a pack of rabid dogs as they head for the singletrack entrance.

I'll try to dribble some pix from the SS Punk Bike Enduro up over the next few days. In the meantime, a few participants have posted a LOT of pictures on MTBR.com already. John's pix can be seen here and Steve's can be seen here.
Not sure what to say if you missed it except: Cold? Snow? Ice? Who cares?! Roll your sorry ass out of bed and get on your bike!
Only riders who had points and showed up at the bar are listed below. If anyone can offer last names on some of the riders, let me know. Official Scoring went like this:
Women Rank Name Points 1 Amy 74 2 Sami Fournier 51
Men Rank Name Points 1 Jon Hanson 68 2 Jay Williams 54 3 Steve Hatley 49 4 Ricky Deleyos 38 4 Don Hash 38 4 Jim Casey 38 7 Andy 32 8 Mike Render 31 9 Joe P. 18 10 Chris 10 11 Crispin 5 12 DT 4

The 2004 Single Speed Punk Bike Enduro has gone down. Just a quick word, as I'm spent and finishing my last Jack Frost Bock before calling it a night. More words about this in the days to come as I have time, but I thought I'd post a quick pic. I'm not sure who this is, but I'm thinking it might be Don. Whoever it is, they are hungry for victory as they dust the rest of the pack in the Stage 3 Le Mans start and head for the bikes. A brief moment after this a throng of riders comes down like a heard of elephants. But this guy, he must have the taste of a stage win in his mouth. Snow and ice be damned, he's getting to the bikes first.
