Here's a recent interview with Jennifer of Harlot, one of the SSO Factory Team sponsors. Julie is sporting one of their shirts in the Pump Track post below and Brie has on some of their camo shorts. We dig their stuff, you should too. Check them out!
Pump Track Action //
Friday - July 17, 2009
Headed up to the Chambersburg Pump Track Thursday night for a little pump track action. Big thanks to Larry for hosting us and also for working with the Borough of Chambersburg to get the pump track built. Every town should have one of these!
Love The Dirt //
Wednesday - July 15, 2009
The past week I've been savoring the dry dirt, a huge change from the spring and early summer conditions and a welcome relief from my recent visit to Atlantis (Vermont). Spent a few mid-day hours last week with Chris mapping a local route, not race pace but steady rocking the Watershed's rocky sweetness. Temps were warm but not overly hot, sun was out, not a chance of rain in the forecast. Perfect mountain bike weather. Spent more time and several hours up there on Saturday with Jay, another great summer ride in the woods. Followed that up attending a party in the afternoon (that spilled late into night) to resurrect the Frederick Bicycle Club. Good beer, fun city ride with both adults and kids. Thanks to Mic and Brie for putting it on.
Woke foggy and early on Sunday to put in another work day on our New Blue project in the Frederick Watershed. We had 18 people show up including Frank from IMBA who came down from State College, PA to help us dig in the dirt. We benched some more sections, tuned up some corners and debermed some edges of the trail where the new tread has compacted. Afterwards we fired up hot dogs on the Coleman grill in the parking lot and put down a few barley pops as a reward for a job well done.
With well over 600 volunteer hours in the new trail construction we are nearly complete and will be ready to shut down and reclaim the old corridor. Details on that and the grand opening of the new trail will be posted once we nail a date down. Monday was spent test riding our new work and giving Frank a tour of the local trails. The new trail is riding sweet! We've had a lot of positive feedback on the new trail and we are totally stoked about that. Big thanks to all who have come out and contributed to this project, it is hopefully just the start of improving some of the trails out there that need TLC.
