MORE Trails coming your way  //   Wednesday - August 10, 2011

A couple of cool projects are underway in Maryland and this weekend there are big events for both.

Saturday: In Frederick County new trail is getting built in Emmitsburg, MD. Corridor clearing will be taking place August 13th and they are hoping for a good turn out to show their town council there's excitement for the project. The complete project will be a stacked loop system and they'll be breaking ground on the first piece of a multi-phase project. Where is Emmitsburg? It is north of Frederick, MD and the trails will be built on the town reservoir property which is situated on the same ridge as Gambrill and the Frederick Watershed so expect similar terrain. Want to know more about the project? Check these recent articles: Frederick News Post, The Gazette

Trail Work Info is as follows:
Date: Saturday, August 13, 2011
Time: 8am- 1pm
Location: Rainbow Lake on Hampton Valley Road. Google Maps link.
Contact: Tim O'Donnell- todonnell@emmitsburgmd.gov - 301-447-3839

Sunday: In Howard County, an MTB skills park is going to be built in a county park and will be funded with grants and donations which are being raised by MORE, who got this project going. This will be the first of its kind in MD and will be a great success for all cycling groups to point to and use when advocating for similar projects (pumptracks, etc.)

This Sunday will be a big BBQ fundraiser with rides, raffles and food. This is sure to be a good time and Patapsco are my original home trails so I can tell you the riding will be fun stuff. Come on out or just make a donation to the project. There is lots of money to raise and every bit helps. Details on the BBQ are below or click here for more info about the project.

Plans include BBQ, local cycling celebrity led bike rides by world champ Chris Eatough, beginner / intermediate / advanced rides, more good food, vendor tents, face painting, kids’ rodeo and other exciting events.
