NiCad? Nickel Metal Hydride? Lithium?  //   Tuesday - September 2, 2008

OK, so the batteries seem to be recharged overall. Took quite a few days off of work for a much needed vacation. Life has been a pressure cooker lately, hence the slow posting here. I'll spare you the details but the gist is all excess time has been spent with a prolonged neighborhood battle we are fighting with a big business and the city to keep from living in hell in the near future. Work has been jammed as well. The bicycle has been my only life line to sanity lately. It offers both a physical and mental release and I've been doing my best to keep the normal cycling routine alive in the maelstrom of late.

Spent the Memorial day weekend getting my ride on in various ways. Brewery visit via bike to Flying Dog on Saturday, $5 for a pint glass and unlimited "tastings" is hard to beat. Even got Mr. Neal to join us which was nice since I haven't seen him for a while.

Sunday was spent with about 14 liked minded people heading out on the August Scramble put on by James of It was a ride filled with skinny tires, beer, flasks, pepperoni, cheese, baguettes, PBJ sandwiches, lots of flat tires, old road bikes quite a few fixed gear vehicles, dirt roads, tar and chip, fine weather and quite a bit of rocky Watershed trail. 40+ miles in the end, no injuries and a great day spent on the bike with fine people.

Threw the fat tire on the Jones Sunday and did some tire pressure testing in the Shed. Nice quiet day for a solo ride out there. Also testing the use of a Specialized "thin" 26 x 1.5/2.1 tube instead of the monster Endomorph tube. Yesterday's ride was a success, we'll see how it lasts.

Report on SSWC Napa is in the works, stay tuned. Jones bike build info down the road a bit after that.
